Some explanations about the categories in the first table:

Functions: Shows you how comprehensive and versatile the functions of all tuning tools are. Of course, all tuning tools in our shop will take away the 25 km/h speed limit and can make your electric bike much faster (normally at least twice as fast). But nowadays many tuning devices have got further configuration options, too. For example, the JUM-Ped for BionX is able to modify the throttle control function. Other tuning tools, like the Sx2 Dongle with Power Switch, can be switched on or off via the electric bike display. The higher the functional range of each device, the more stars we gave.

Easy Installation: For this category our support team tested how easy / challenging the installation of each tuning tool is. Are special technical skills required? Is the installation very time-consuming etc.?

Invisible after Installation: For some electric bicycle riders it is important that the tuning tool should not be visible for others. If a tuning tool can be definitely and easily seen, we gave zero points.

Turn on / off while driving: Shows you if the tuning tool can be activated / deactivated while you are riding your electric bike. For some tuning tools you simply have to press a button, for others you have to stop the electric bike and de-install the whole tuning tool. Here can be significant differences from one device to another.

Getting conform to the traffic regulations again: How easy is it to put the electric bike back in a condition which conforms to the respective traffic regulations while you are on tour?

Hidden dismantling: Shows you if a tuning tool leaves behind visible traces or marks after it has been removed. If the tool leaves marks, we gave fewer points.

Easy Dismantling: Here we tested how easy and time-consuming the removal of a particular tuning tool is. The less effort is necessary, the more points we gave.

Display correct Speed & Kilometres: Here we tested if the electric bicycle display still shows the correct speed and distance – even if the tuning tool is activated. For some tuning tools the display only shows half speed and kilometres (for example, the Sx2 Dongle and the Badass Box). But there are some tuning tools, like ASA eSpeed, PearTune, SpeedBox2, SpeedChip, BluePed, GreenPed or JUM-Ped, where the display still shows the correct data.
